Advocacy After Homicide Training is a comprehensive curriculum designed for a diverse audience.
In this training we will:
*Delve into the intricacies of homicide cases, from initial investigation to final judgment.
*Explore the multifaceted impact of homicide on individuals, families, and communities, discussing strategies for supporting survivors and fostering resilience.
*Address the challenges faced by professionals working in this field, including vicarious trauma, ethical considerations, and professional boundaries.
*Speak in depth about what restorative justice is and brainstorm ways to implement RJ programs into different organizations, the community, and daily life.
We will also hear from in-person guest speakers as they graciously share their stories, experiences, and knowledge.
By the end of this training, attendees will have a deeper understanding of the homicide case process, effective support strategies no matter your relationship to the survivors, and valuable resources to enhance your knowledge and capability when it comes to helping others navigate the multi-layered trauma of homicide.
Advocacy After Homicide is a three-day, in-person only training course being held in Tumwater, WA (Olympia). The dates are April 28, 29, & 30 of 2025.
Upon completion attendees will receive a certificate for 25 hours of continuing education units.
This course is an investment of $425 and includes all training materials, refreshments during class hours, door prizes, guest speakers, and take-home resources. Attendees are responsible for their own travel expenses. A block of rooms has been set aside at a discounted rate at the hotel where the training is taking place. Upon registration for the course, attendees will be sent a booking link to reserve their hotel room.
This training is limited to 30 attendees and is open to anyone. You do not need to be a professional working in the victim services field.
This training is first come, first served and the curriculum is subject to slight alteration. Due to limited space, we recommend you reserve your spot as soon as possible.

The facilitators of this training are Terrie Noble and Liberty Miller.
Terrie Noble is a homicide survivor who has lost four family members in four separate instances, including her son. She has an extensive background in criminal and social justice spanning 40-years, including many years working as a paralegal for the Thurston County Prosecutor’s Office, 10 years as a chaplain with the Olympia Police Department, an Associate Director for the Washington Coalition of Crime Victim Advocates, providing state-wide advocacy training and legislating for victims rights, and 15 years as a homicide victim advocate with Violent Crime Victim Services, covering five-counties in Southwest Washington.
Liberty Miller is also a homicide survivor, having lost her brother. She has an extensive background in advocacy and social justice including being a nationally credentialed victim advocate (NCA), a certified grief and bereavement counselor, and a certified ACE's instructor. She also holds certifications in grief journaling, trauma aware facilitation, mass violence preparedness and forest therapy. Liberty has been volunteering inside prisons since 2018. She recently was presented with a Victim Activist award through NOVA for demonstrating a life of commitment to other victims of violent crime.
