The Far North is a grief resilience and community wellness company that was founded by Liberty (Miller) Henderson in 2021 while living in Alaska.
Liberty’s life was forever changed by the loss of her brother to homicide in 1997. The suddenness and violence of his death created a rupture that rippled through every part of her world, leading her into years of unresolved grief, unanswered questions, and the long, quiet work of learning how to live in the aftermath of trauma. In time, that experience would become the very foundation of the work she would one day devote her life to.
It wasn’t until 2018, when she shared her story with inmates at Alaska’s maximum-security prison, that she experienced the profound impact of post-traumatic growth and the transformative potential of restorative justice.
That pivotal moment sparked a deep calling to support others in navigating the complex aftermath of homicide. Since then, Liberty has devoted herself to this mission through victim advocacy, prison outreach, and community wellness. In late 2023, she sold her coffee shop in Alaska, 13 Raven Coffee House, to focus her time, energy, and heart entirely on The Far North.
A nationally credentialed victim advocate, Liberty brings expertise in grief counseling, trauma-informed care, and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Her qualifications also include certifications in grief journaling, trauma-aware facilitation, mass violence preparedness, forest therapy, and sound healing.
